South Bengal Frontier, Sector Kolkata apprehended one Indian smuggler red handed with 15 fish seeds bags and 01 smuggler with 15 bottles of Phensedyl in separate incidents during the last 24 hours from their border area. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at Rs 1,52,790/-. The smugglers were trying to take them from India to Bangladesh from the area of North 24 Parganas district.
In the first incident, on 30 May, 2022, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Charal Khali, 118 Battalion, laid an ambush in the said area, on getting the information, out of the 03 smugglers, 01 smuggler succeeded in apprehend. The identity of the apprehended person is 1) Poritosh Rishi, 30 years, S/o- Mangal Rishi, Village- No. 08 Charal Khali, Post Office – Chandanpur, Thana Hingalganj, District – North 24 Parganas. The person told that he works to carry fish seeds to the banks of the river and smugglers from Bangladesh come with their motor boats to the banks of the river and used to take the items to Bangladesh. The apprehended person told that they work in small groups, in which one group keeps the attention of the troops and the other group collects the items.
On 30 May, 2022 at around 1815 hrs, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion carried out the search operation in the stated area. BSF troops, along with a member of Dharkanda village, searched the Gaushala of Hafizul Ghazi, a resident of Dharkanda village, and during the search, 14 Phensedyl bottles were recovered from the CGI sheets on the roof of the Gaushala. At the same time the owner of the Gaushala was apprehended. During the search, a Bangladeshi SIM was also recovered from the phone of the apprehended person. The apprehended person has been identified as 1) Hafizul Ghazi, 35 years, Father Kismat Ali Ghazi, Village Doharkanda, Post Office – Hakimpur, Thana Swaroopnagar, District North 24 Parganas.
During preliminary interrogation, the person revealed that on 30 May, 2022 at around 1630, the Border Security Force has recovered 14 Phensedyl bottles from his Gaushala.
The apprehended persons have been handed over to the concerned Police Station/Customs Office along with the seized items.
The South Bengal Frontier issued a statement expressing happiness over the achievements of the jawans, in which they have foiled smuggling attempts. This has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The statement clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of their troops.
