South Bengal Frontier (BSF) troops apprehended two Indian smugglers with 445 phensedyl bottles in separate incidents. The total value of the seized phensedyl is Rs 91,447.
The smuggler was trying to take all these phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.
In the first incident, on June 22, 2022, at around 0230 hrs, on duty troops of Border Out Post Kakmarichar, 117 Battalion , acting on specific and accurate information, succeeded in apprehending an Indian smuggler. On searching, 295 bottles of phensedyl were recovered from him. The smuggler was identified as Farooq (age 32 years), Father- Khaja Ahmed, Village- Kakmrichar Post- Sahebnagar, PS- Sagarpara, District- Murshidabad.
In another incident, on June 21, 2022, in the border area of North 24 Parganas district, the troops of Border Out Post Solak, 107 Battalion, apprehended a person with an e-rickshaw at around 1830 on the basis of specific information. During the search, the jawans succeeded in seizing 150 bottles of phensedyl from the e-rickshaw. The apprehended person has been identified as Saidul Mandal, S/o – Aynol Mandal, Village – Mehrani, District – North 24 Parganas.
During interrogation, Saidul Mandal revealed that he is involved in smuggling for the last few days to earn easy money. Further he revealed that he has taken this Phensedyl from Jhaukhali village. For this work he was going to get Rs 2000/-.
The apprehended smugglers and the seized phensedyl bottles have been handed over to the concerned Police Station for further legal action.
A statement issued by the South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the alertness of the jawans and stated that their jawans are fully determined and committed to prevent cross border crimes and smuggling.
