On July 14, 2022, acting on the basis of strong input, the troops of the Border Out Post Ranghat, 68 Battalion posted in the border area apprehended a total of five people, including two Indian tout, in the crime of illegal infiltration. Both the apprhended Bangladeshi nationals were trying to illegally go to Bangladesh with the help of Indian touts.
One of the apprehended tout is Ashadul Mandal, age 45, S/o late Saurav Mandal, a resident of bordering village Kulia, District- North 24 Parganas and the other Ahmed Ali, age 54 years, S/o late Aziz Sardar, Durganagar, Manikpur Dum Dum, (Kolkata). While the other three have been identified as Rajkumar Joyder (44) Krishnaganj, District-Nadia, West Bengal, Abutarhi Sardar (22) and his cousin, age-11 years, District-Satkhira Bangladesh.
During investigation, Ashadul Mondal admitted that he helps people to cross the International Boundary illegally and he has been doing this work for the last five years. With this Ahmed Ali admitted that he has lived in Dum Dum, Kolkata for the last three years. From here he takes illegal people from Kolkata to the border areas and brings back Bangladeshis from there. Further both revealed that they were going to help two Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian national to cross IB even today.
All the apprehended persons have been handed over to the Police Station Baghdah for further legal action.
Yogendra Agrawal, Commanding Officer, 68 Battalion informed that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to stop illegal movement along the border. Due to which the people involved in these types of crimes are facing a lot of difficulties, out of which some people are getting apprehended. The official stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow such smuggling from its area under any circumstances.
