Delhi Public School Dibrugarh on Saturday organised an Open Swimming Competition which was a first of its kind in Dibrugarh town. Around 125 swimmers from Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Moran, Duliajan, Sivsagar, Biswanath Charali and other adjoining areas participated in the competition in various types of swimming styles
like 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle, backstroke etc.
The event was attended by Prof JP Verma, Vice Chancellor of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University as chief guest, PVC Sanjay Jain and Board Member Banita Jain. The competition witnessed a lot of excitement and rush of adrenaline, followed by the prize distribution ceremony wherein students from various districts of Assam bagged prizes.
The chief guest stressed on the importance of fitness and encouraged the students to participate in games and sports on regular basis to maintain agility. Furthermore, he emphasised upon the mantra of 3 ‘Ds’ i.e Discipline, Dedication and Dedication and 2 ‘H’ i.e Honesty and Hardwork to be imbibed by every student throughout their lives.
