A State-level painting competition was held in Guwahati today with the theme of ‘Energy Consumption’ by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, North Eastern Region under the aegis Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power.
The competition’s aim was to raise awareness on the need for conserving energy among the school students. It was held in two groups – Group A comprising students of classes 5-7 and Group B for the students of classes 8-10 with the themes being “We are pro-planet people” and “Circular Economy – Reuse, Reduce and Recycle.”
55 contestants were selected from 44,278 drawings in Group A category and 16,472 drawings in Group B category. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners at a grand ceremony held in Shilpagram, Guwahati. Eminent Artist and Speaker Dr. Anjan Jyoti Chowdhury presided today’s event. Top ten District Project Officers of the Education department were also felicitated for their support in the painting competition organized at the school-level.
The top three winners of the state-level competition in Group A category are – Anie Kashyap (1st prize – Rs. 50,000), Deeptanshu Chaterjee (2nd prize – Rs.30,000) and Rocktodeep Kashyap (3rd prize – Rs. 20,000). Winners in Group B category – Banasmita Kashyap (1st prize), Tahrima Sultana (2nd prize) and Shruti Kalita (3rd prize).
The painting competition was organized in collaboration with the Education Department, Government of Assam. POWERGRID’s Northeast wing exerted special effort in making the event a success. As many as 5,02,275 school children participated in the event across Assam.
Other dignitaries present in this meeting were Addl. Secretary, Education, Smt. Prajnya Saharia and Chief Electrical Officer, Shri Nilamoni Sharma.
