BSF APPREHENDED A WOMAN SMUGGLER WITH GOLD BISCUITS WORTH MORE THAN 95 LAKHS ON THE BORDER

On 05th December’ 2022 at 1000 hrs, alert jawans of Border Out Post Jayantipur, 158 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier apprehended a woman smuggler with 15 gold biscuits. The weight of the seized gold is 1749.72 grams, the estimated value of seized gold is 97,21,444/- rupees. The apprehended woman smuggler has been identified as Aklima Sardar, District North 24 Parganas.

During interrogation, the woman smuggler revealed that this gold was given to her by Bangladeshi smuggler Badal, resident of Benapole. She further revealed that after this she was going to hand over these gold biscuits to Indian smuggler Asghar Sheikh, resident of Petrapole. She was to get 2,000 rupees for this work. But the troops had already apprehended her.

The apprehended woman smuggler along with the seized goods were handed over to the Customs Department Petrapole for further legal action.

The Commanding Officer of 158 Battalion stated that BSF is constantly trying to stop smuggling on the border and it has also got success in this work. Due to which people indulged in crimes like smuggling are being apprehended continuously. More information related to smuggling is being obtained from the woman smuggler apprehended today so that more people indulged in smuggling can be traced.
