Green Bud Society submitted memorandum to Tinsukia District Deputy Commissioner

Green Bud Society an environment and eco friendly Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) of Digboi under Tinsukia District on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Tinsukia district deputy commissioner regarding rampant deforestation of precious trees at Dehing Patkai National Park.
“The illegal mining of coal in the Patkai  region of Tinsukia is a threat to the ecology where 98.59  hectare Saleki reserve forest the illegal coal miners are extracting coal from Patkai hills regularly causing destricution to the ecology,” said Debojit Moran.
The memorandum further stated, that “Deforestation is a major concern in the area due to the regular chopping of valuable trees by the timber smuggler whereas illegal cutting of State tree Hollong in the Reserve Forest under Tinsukia district is a major cause of concern.
The timber smuggler are using sophisticated machines in slashing down of trees and if the things would be stop immediately then Tinsukia district will lose it forest cover very soon said Debojit Moran.
“Most of the elephant corridors are blocked due to human enchroachment and fencing. The elephants of Dehing Patkai West Block are facing problem in their movement,
Elephant movement were disturbed due to the fencing in elephant corridor where Due to that the elephant comes and entered human habitation which resulted in human-elephant conflict stated in the memorandium said Debojit Moran.
It has learned that every year due industrialization forest covers has been shrinking quickly in India and “of course industrialization is needed but not at the cost of forest and the policy makers should chalk out a plan where industries is set up without destructing forest,” said Devojit Moran, General Secretary of Green Bud Society(NGO).
