On 29th January, 2023, the vigilant jawans of Border Out Post Sutiya, 107 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, seized 10.5 Kgs of Ganja from their area of responsibility by thwarting smuggling attempts. Smugglers were trying to take this ganja from India to Bangladesh.
Actually, the jawans on duty observed some suspicious movement in the mustard field near the Border fence. Immediately, troops on duty started cordoning off the area. Seeing the jawans, one smuggler fled away towards the village by taking the advantage of the dense fog. The jawans reached at the spot and conducted a search operation in the area. During the search, the jawans recovered the said ganja from there.
The seized items were handed over to Police Station Bangaon for further legal action.
The commanding officer of the 107 Battalion stated that smugglers try to smuggle in different ways to make their plans successful. But due to the intelligence and alertness of the troops of the Border Security Force, they could not get success, he added.
