Foiling the plans of smugglers, BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier seized 494 bottles of Phensedyl and 6.5 kg of Ganja from their area of responsibility along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.1,01,423/-. The smugglers were attempting to transport these contraband goods from India to Bangladesh.
The first incident took place on March 19, 2023, at 1645 hrs in the area of ICP Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion of BSF. Acting on reliable inputs, the jawans on duty caught two truck driver smugglers with 232 bottles of Phensedyl during a search. During the search of the truck, the jawans found the Phensedyl wrapped in a plastic packet in the driver’s cabin. This truck was going from India to Bangladesh. The apprehended smugglers were identified as Bablu Ghazi and Abdul Gafur Sardar from North 24 Parganas district.
The apprehended smugglers revealed that Safikul Islam, the truck owner, and his accomplice Kalu, from North 24 Parganas, gave them the Phensedyl. Bablu Ghazi (operator) was planning to sell them at a higher price in Bangladesh, but BSF jawans intercepted them.
In other incidents, jawans from Border Out Post Amudiya, 112 Battalion, Border Out Post Madhupur, 68 Battalion, and Border Out Post Gede, 54 Battalion seized a total of 262 bottles of Phensedyl and 6.5 kg of Ganja from their area of responsibility.
The apprehended smugglers and seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.

He stated that this is only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by the BSF jawans on duty. He urged people not to engage in smuggling under any circumstances. He also strongly stated that BSF jawans would not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the border and would not spare those involved in it.
