The brave and vigilant jawans of Border Out Post Govindpur, 82 Battalion, under South Bengal Frontier, have yet again proved their dedication towards safeguarding the country’s borders and preserving its natural heritage.
On March 21, 2023, vigilant jawans from Border Out Post Govindpur, 82 Battalion, under the South Bengal Frontier, through Hand Held Thermal Imagers (HHTI) detected 4-5 smugglers who were trying to cross the India-Bangladesh border at night.
The jawans immediately laid an ambush in the area and challenged the smugglers to stop. However, taking advantage of the darkness, the smugglers fled, leaving behind some sacks. The jawans searched the area and recovered two gunny bags, inside which they found two rare Dwarf Cassowary birds.
The rare birds were handed over to the Forest Department in Tehtta.
The Commanding Officer of 82 Battalion stated that the BSF is taking strict measures to stop the smuggling of rare species of birds and animals on the border. He also stated in clear words that they will not allow any kind of smuggling from their area under any circumstances.
