On April 8, 2023, acting on concrete information, vigilant troops of Border Out Post Boltala, 118 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, seized 23 plastic bags containing fish eggs worth Rs. 2,30,000/- that were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
At about 2350 hrs, on duty troops of Border Out Post Boltala observed suspicious movement of some smugglers in Kalindi River. The troops immediately rushed towards the spot and saw some items floating in Kalindi river. Thereafter, Boat patrolling party was informed, who carried out a thorough search of the area and recovered 23 plastic bags containing fish eggs from the river .
The seized fish eggs were handed over to Custom office Hingalganj for further legal action.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the operation, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier stated that all smuggling prone-routes and patches have been put under strict surveillance in a bid to discourage from carrying out smuggler’s nefarious intensions. BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to take place on the border under any circumstances.
