METROMAN BRINGS LAUREL FOR THE COUNTRY

The Indian Team comprising of 24 (twenty four) members including Sumit Mukherjee, a Metroman, has won 4 Gold Medals in the just concluded Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle-East Championships (BFAME) at Lahore.

This Championship was played from 5th to 13th May, 2023. Sumit Mukherjee is a staff of Metro Railway, Kolkata and was the only railwayman in this Indian contingent.

Indian team participated in 4 categories, all of which were team games, in this Championship, in which teams from five countries participated. These were Open, Ladies, Mixed and Senior categories.  Sumit Mukherjee represented India in the Open category. Each participating team had six players in each category.

Prior to this success, Mukherjee won the bronze medal in Jakarta Asian Game in 2018 and also the 4th Asia Cup Bridge Championship held at Jakarta in 2022. Apart from this, Sumit Mukherjee has won many National and International titles.

He is delighted to win this title for the country. He is coming back to Kolkata tonight.

With this win, he earned a place in the World Championships that are scheduled to be held at Marrakech, Morocco later in August. He will also be participating in the Asian Games to be held in the month of September- October this year in China.

Congratulating Mukherjee for this success, P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway has wished him all the best for the forthcoming tournaments. GM has expressed his hope that he will continue bringing laurels for Indian Railways and the country as well.
