BSF jawans under South Bengal Frontier seized 03 kg Narcotics Powder (Piperonal) in their area of responsibility at Indo-Bangladesh International Border.
According to the statement, the incident took place on the night of June 02, 2023, at around 2230 hours, in the area of Border Out Post Asaridah, 35 Battalion. Acting on the information of the Intelligence Department, the jawans were patrolling in their area. Then suddenly the jawans noticed suspicious activity of smugglers on the border. The jawans saw that the smugglers were trying to throw some goods over the border fence from the Indian side. When the jawans challenged the smugglers, they fled from the spot throwing the goods there. Thereafter, on conducting a thorough search of the area, the jawans seized 03 kg Narcotics Powder (Piperonal).
The seized material has been handed over to Lalgola police station for further legal action.
The Commanding Officer of 35 Battalion expressed happiness over the success of the jawans and stated that it was only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by BSF jawans on duty. He has urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He also added in strong words that BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the border under any circumstances and will not spare the persons involved in it.
