The BSF deployed on the India-Bangladesh border is not only guarding the international border but also organizes awareness programs from time to time to curb the crimes and misdeeds happening on the border. In this connection, on June 25/26, 2023, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the 08 Battalion under the South Bengal Frontier, along with Plan India, Shrima Mahila Samiti, and Child Line NGO organized an awareness program related to Prevention of Human Trafficking and other crimes at the community hall of border village Kumari and Fatehpur High School, Hanskhali.
In this awareness programme, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of BSF informed the villagers on topics like human trafficking, child marriage, child abuse, child labour, gender discrimination and importance of education etc. Apart from this, the team also told the women present there about breast cancer, and the methods of its investigation. About 100 women, villagers and students participated in the awareness programmes.
The villagers expressed their gratitude to BSF for organizing this program and urged the jawans to organize such awareness programs in future also.
The Commanding Officer of 08 Battalion stated that such programs are organized from time to time to build better relations between the border population and BSF. He also added that there is a need to give good education to the children to make them good citizens.
