Nitin Agrawal, IPS, the Director General of the Border Security Force, visited ICP Petrapole, 145 Battalion, and Border Outpost Haridaspur, 05 Battalion of South Bengal Frontier and reviewed the security scenario on the Indo-Bangladesh Border.
The Director General was welcomed by Ms Sonali Mishra, IPS, Additional Director General, BSF (Eastern Command), Shri Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS, IG South Bengal Frontier and other senior officers.
On July 22, 2023, Agarwal commenced his visit by reviewing the security scenario at ICP Petrapole. During the visit, Shri Nitin Agrawal accompanied by senior BSF officials visited the Passenger Terminal, Customs & Immigration, Cargo Gate, Import/Export Trade Area, LPAI (Land Port Authority of India), Mukhya Bhawan, and other facilities at ICP Petrapole. Agarwal also took the opportunity to interact with the jawans. He addressed the Sainik Sammelan and complimented all ranks for their high morale and operational achievements.
Nitin Agarwal was briefed by Ayush Mani Tiwari IG SB Ftr about the effective Border Management undertaken by South Bengal Frontier, challenges, and future plans. He was apprised of the present status of trans-border crime in the area of South Bengal Frontier and efforts being made by the officers and troops of South Bengal Frontier to curb trans-border crimes. He was also apprised of the ongoing Civic Action Programme and other Confidence Building Measures being taken by South Bengal Frontier to infuse a sense of security amongst the Border population.
The Director General applauded the efforts and dedication of BSF troops in safeguarding the borders and their efforts to control border crimes. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility along the border. He urged the BSF troops to remain vigilant against trans-border criminals on the Indo-Bangladesh Border.
