The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway successfully rescued 20 persons including 17 minors, two women and a boy during different checks & drives conducted from 22nd to 28th July, 2023 at different trains and railway stations over N. F. Railway. RPF also apprehended three persons involved in human trafficking. The rescued persons were later, handed over to respective Child Line/NGOs, parents or Government Railway Police (GRP) for safe custody and further course of action.
In an incident of 24th July, 2023, RPF of Kishanganj, jointly with the representatives of Bachpan Bachao Andolan, conducted checking at Kishanganj railway station. During checking, they apprehended 3 child traffickers and rescued of 3 minor boys. Later, the apprehended traffickers along with the minor boys were handed over to OC/GRP/Kishanganj for further course of action.
In a recent incident on 27th July, 2023, RPF Meri Saheli team of Guwahati, during checking at Guwahati railway station, rescued one runaway woman. Later, the rescued woman was handed over to Superintendent of Shakti Sadar, Guwahati for safe custody. On that day, RPF of Guwahati jointly with Meri Saheli team of Guwahati along with representative of Railway Child Line/Guwahati, rescued two runaway minor boys at Guwahati railway station. Later, the rescued minor boys were handed over to Railway Child Line, Guwahati for safe custody.
It may be mentioned that RPF of N.F. Railway rescued 69 minor boys & girls and 11 women with arrest of one human trafficker during the month of June, 2023.
“Meri Saheli” has been formed over N. F. Railway and functioning round the clock to make aware women/child passengers about the safety/security and use of Helpline No. 139 in case of any exigency. Railway Protection Force remains vigilant for suspected persons involved in human trafficking as well as the movement of children in a suspicious manner, travelling alone, without proper guardian etc.
