BSF ORGANIZES ANOTHER AWARENESS PROGRAM IN BORDER AREA TO ABOLISH CHILD ABUSE AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The BSF deployed on the Indo-Bangladesh Border is not only guarding the International Border but also organizes awareness programs from time to time to curb crimes and malpractices, in collaboration with various NGOs. In this connection, on August 08, 2023, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Border Outpost Ramnagar, 68 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, along with ‘Shakti Vahini’ NGO organized an awareness program related to prevention of human trafficking and other crimes at Baksha High School, Baksha under PS Baagdah.

In this awareness programme, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of BSF informed the school girls on topics like human trafficking, child abuse, child labour, gender discrimination, misuse of social media and importance of education etc. 12 teachers and 135 school girls participated in the awareness programme.

The teachers and girl students thanked BSF for organizing this program and urged the jawans to organize such awareness programs in future also.

A K Arya, DIG spokesperson of BSF, South Bengal Frontier stated that human trafficking, child marriage, child abuse and child labor are heinous crimes that thrive by exploiting the most vulnerable members of the society. It is the responsibility of governments, organizations and society to unite to abolish this modern slavery, and ensure that every human being is treated with dignity and respect.
