Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted a large-scale Tree Plantation Drive at COB YKPI and COB Singjamei on 11 Sept 2023.
The primary objective of this tree plantation initiative was to raise awareness about the pivotal role trees play in our lives and to safeguard our endangered environment, which stands as one of nature’s most precious gifts. The act of planting trees is crucial for maintaining ecosystem equilibrium.
A total of 30 troops and 65 local residents enthusiastically participated in this event, resulting in the planting of 1820 saplings of various species. Participants, both soldiers and civilians, received education about the profound significance of trees, as they are directly linked to our fundamental needs for nourishing food and clean air. In addition to fulfilling these necessities, trees contribute to biodiversity preservation, water conservation, soil protection, and climate regulation.
