Vishal P Chaliha’s latest short film ‘Someday’ has found an honourable place in forthcoming Kolkata International Film Festival to be held from 5th December to 12th December in Kolkata.
This is a short environmental documentary film on retired Forest Conservator of Forest Shri Dharanidhar Boro who served in Assam Forest Department. This film presents how Dharanidhar Boro tried to curb down rhino poaching primarily in Manas and Kaziranga National Park. He is known for his non-violent way of handling rhino poachers. Dharanidhar Boro served for many years in the Agoratoli Range of Kaziranga National Park where he established a school for the villagers. The villagers living near the national park has always been influenced by rhino horn smugglers to help them locate and kill rhinos. Dharanidhar Boro tried his best to form a good relation with the villagers so that they don’t get influenced by the smugglers.
Director Vishal P Chaliha is a writer and actor from Guwahati. His first feature film was Sijou (2021) which was premiered at 52nd International Film Festival of India in Indian Panorama section. ‘Someday’ (2023) is his second film he has directed. Currently, Vishal is working on his next feature film. He is also working as an actor in Rima Das’s upcoming untitled feature film.
The producer of the film is Priyam Chaliha, an active producer of film and tv programmes. Her film ‘Tai Phake’ was awarded with National Film award and she was also one of the producers of the film Sijou.
