The 1st (Lushai Hills) Assam Rifles, one of the oldest and most distinguished battalions in the Assam Rifles, joyously celebrated its 174th Raising Day on the 12th of December. Established on this day in 1850, the unit holds a proud Iegacy in service and Valour.
In commemoration of this historic occasion, the Commandant of the 1st Assam Rifles led a solemn ceremony at the War Memorial, paying heartfelt homage to the brave soldiers who have served with dedication and grit throughout the unit’s illustrious history. The veterans equally graced the occasion with their presence at ‘Khatima’ in Uttarakhand. The ceremony was a poignant moment, reflecting on the unit’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation.
Following the tribute at the War Memorial, a Special Sainik Sammelan was organized, providing an opportunity for the officers and soldiers to come together in a spirit of camaraderie. The gathering was marked by a sense of pride, unity, and shared commitment to the principles that have defined the 1st Assam Rifles for over 170 years.
