Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), continues to spearhead community-centric initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and enhancing healthcare in Manipur.
Academic Guidance Sessions and Pre-Recruitment Training: Assam Rifles organized Academic Guidance Sessions and Pre-Recruitment Training at Phundrei and Serou villages to inspire and prepare aspiring youths for careers in the defense forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The initiative aims to motivate youths to consider a career in the defense forces/CAPF and to equip them for upcoming SSC, CAPF and Agniveer recruitment rallies.
The Pre-Recruitment Training has engaged 59 youths, including 48 boys and 11 girls from the area of responsibility. Phundrei Battalion Assam Rifles has facilitated the registration of 105 youths for CAPF recruitment by providing necessary assistance. Discussions and Academic Guidance Sessions were conducted to offer insights and initial guidance regarding documentation and tests for the upcoming recruitment rallies.
The efforts of Assam Rifles were highly appreciated by the youths and village representatives for providing valuable guidance on entry schemes for CAPFs and the Army. The participants expressed their willingness to attend further initiatives by Assam Rifles.
Medical Camps in Tengnoupal District: As part of ongoing initiatives under Operation Sadbhavana & Civic Action Programme, Assam Rifles conducted Medical Camps at Sita village and B Bongjang village in Tengnoupal District on 27 December 2023. The camps aimed to provide medical aid and simultaneously foster mutual trust and peace between the civil populace and security forces.
Special emphasis was placed on antenatal care for expecting mothers and pediatric disease prevention. The B Bongjang camp, situated along the Indo-Myanmar Border, addressed the limited medical infrastructure, benefitting individuals with medical examinations, free medicines, refreshments, and relief materials. A total of 340 individuals received medical assistance at both locations.
These endeavors underscore Assam Rifles’ dedication to mutual trust, peace, and harmony, earning appreciation from local communities for their impactful contributions to healthcare.
Security Meet at Henkot Village, Churachandpur District: Assam Rifles, recognizing the importance of maintaining peace in the region, organized a Security Meet at Henkot village, Churachandpur District, on 27th December. Located alongside NH 2 and connecting Manipur with Mizoram, the security meet witnessed the participation of 08 village chiefs.
The discussion focused on cooperation and coordination with security forces, with villagers sharing their experiences, views, and challenges faced due to outbreaks of violence in the area. The villagers expressed their concern about the area’s significance and assured their support to Assam Rifles in maintaining peace.
