Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling of contrabands in Kamjong District on 13th January 2024.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the illegal transportation of Areca nuts in gen area Pillong Market-Kangpat Khunou road track junction, a search operation was launched. The column intercepted, 09x trucks illegally carrying Areca nuts without valid documents which were intended for unlawful distribution in the black market.
A total of 1480 bags (approx weight 118.4 tons) of Areca/Beetel Nuts, valued at Rs. 14.208 Crore, was seized and subsequently handed over to Forest Beat Officer, Gomnam, Kamjong District.
