INAUGRAL ASSAM RIFLES VETERANS DAY ORGANISED BY ASSAM RIFLES TODAY

Assam Rifles organised its First Assam Rifles Veterans Day on 23rd March 2024 to honour the sacrifice of its Ex Service men and to acknowledge their contribution towards nation building. In its 189 year long glorious history the Assam Rifles today has 1,01,143 Ex-servicemen country wide and 934 Veernaris who come under the umbrella of Assam Rifles Ex Servicemen Association (ARESA) which are located all over the country. Presently there exist 34 ARESA centres and three Pension paying offices in Nepal to oversee the welfare of Assam Rifles Ex Servicemen.

The day was marked by a number of activities to include Outreach programmes by reaching out to the Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris & Widows in all the states of North East. The Outreach programme included establishment of Medical Camps, ECHS helpdesk, Banking facilities, grievance redressal cell and availability of representatives of Civil administration to resolve the difficulties being faced by them. Veer Naris, Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen and Widows were felicitated on the occasion. Multiple events took place at various places. Incidentally, this is one day before the raising day of Assam Rifles which falls on 24th March. Assam Rifles shall be celebrating its 189th raising day on 24th March 2024.

 

NAGALAND

 The Assam Rifles units located in Kohima, Mokokchung, Phek and kashiram Basti organised special events to honour and commemorate the veterans. The veterans were felicitated for their service and sacrifice. More than 600 veterans participated in various events organised in their honour.

 

ARUNACHAL PRADESH

 The Assam Rifles unit in Jairampur, Changlang District organised the veterans Day event where in 140 proud veterans and veernaris attended. The atmosphere was of profound respect and reverence for their contribution.

MANIPUR

 The veterans day was marked by a series of meaningful initiatives aimed at extending support and gratitude to our veterans. The events were organised at Maram, Lilong, Somsai, Pallel and Churachandpur. More than 1140 Exservicemen and veernaris participated in the functions at various places.

TRIPURA

Heartfelt felicitations were extended to the Exservicemen and Veernaris of Tripura at the Agartala Garrison. More than 60 Exservicemen and veernaris attended the event.

ASSAM

In collaboration with Zila Sainik Board, Assam Rifles organised the Veterans Day events in Haflong garrison for Dima Hasso District and also at Lokhra. Over 200 Exservicemen, Veernaris and their dependents attended the function and expressed satisfaction and appreciation for Assam Rifles.

 

MEGHALAYA

Directorate General of Assam Rifles at Laitkor organised a Mega Exservicemen rally to facilitate the veterans, veernaris and widows the Exservicemen. Over 200 Exservicemen, Veernaris and Widows attended the event wherein they were felicitated and given medical aid equipment. Lt Gen PC Nair Director General Assam Rifles in his address expressed his gratitude to the Exservicemen who had contributed selflessly in the prime of their life to the cause of bringing peace and harmony in the region. He also stated that henceforth 23 March will be celebrated as Assam Rifles Veterans Day to commemorate their contributions and thanked them for their attendance. The First Assam Rifles Veterans Day provided a platform to express gratitude and honour the selfless service of veterans besides ensuring that their legacy of courage and sacrifice endure for generations to come.
