GREAT HUMANITARIAN INITIATIVES BY THE SENTINELS OF THE NORTH EAST- ASSAM RIFLES

ASSAM RIFLES BRING SMILES TO THE FACES OF CHILDREN BY ORGANISING CREATIVE EVENTS, DISTRIBUTING ACADEMIC AIDS AND FELICITATING ACHIEVERS

Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) has been organizing various events to bring smiles to the faces of the children, underlining the importance of the maintenance of peace in nurturing the future generations of the region.

Furthering this noble cause Assam Rifles organized engaging painting competition for children at Kwatha, Tengnoupal District on 22 March, 2024 and at Phaikoh Primary School, Phaikoh village, Ukhrul District on 23 March, 2024 to encourage artistic expression and creativity among the young participants. Prizes were awarded to commend the outstanding efforts of the participants, fostering a sense of achievement and motivation. The events were organised to alleviate the psychological strain faced by school children due to the ongoing situation, while also creating a recreational activity to stimulate their imagination and promote positive engagement.

Also, in this endeavor Assam Rifles distributed study materials and stationery at Aibol Joupi Government primary school, Aibol Joupi village of Chandel District on 23 March 2024. The event, witnessed by 117 villagers, commenced with interaction with children followed by distribution of study materials and stationery to 39 students of Govt Primary School, Aibol Joupi.

Also recognising the achievers be it in sports or academics so that they act as role models for other children and youth has been the key focus of Assam Rifles. In this endeavor 05 students from Phundrei and 10 students from Kakching cleared the exam for All India Sainik School Entrance Exam 2024. These students were felicitated on 18 March 2024 at ARPS, Phundrei and ARPS Kakching.

Assam Rifles educational support program exemplifies its commitment to not only safeguarding the nation but also nurturing its future leaders. By engaging with students at a formative stage of their lives, the ARs aims to inspire them to pursue the path of empowerment, leadership and service to their country.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISE FRIENDLY FOOTBALL MATCH AT CHONGJANG, TENGNOUPAL DISTRICT

Assam Rifles organized an exhilarating friendly football match at Chongjang, Tengnoupal Distrcict on March 23, 2024. The event aimed to foster sportsmanship among local youths, featuring teams from J Munnomjang and Gangpijang villages. The players showcased exceptional skills and sportsmanship throughout the match, witnessed by a large crowd of villagers and children who came to cheer them on.

A total of 32 youths participated, with approximately 50 villagers, including village chiefs, in attendance. J Munnomjang emerged victorious with a score of 3-1. The match concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the winning team and refreshments for all.

Assam Rifles remains committed to fostering peace and tranquility in the region by channelizing youth towards positive avenues like sports and academics.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED SECURITY MEETS AT AINA VILLAGE, CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT AND JOUPI VILLAGE OF CHANDEL DISTRICT OF MANIPUR

Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) has been organizing Security meets / Interactions with all sections of the society in Manipur to bring the state back to normalcy.

Towards this endeavor Assam Rifles organised a Security Meet cum interaction programmes at Aina Village of Churachandpur District on 23 March 2024. The programme was attended by 10 Village Chiefs of the area. The discussion focused on cooperation and coordination with villagers in maintenance of peace. The Village Committee shared their experiences, views and challenges faced by them due to the breakout of communal violence in the Manipur State. The villagers prayed for an early solution to the ongoing violence and expected for a quick resumption of peace in the state and expressed their cooperation with the Security Forces for restoration of peace.

A similar interaction was also organised with Village Authorities of Khengjoi Sub-Division at Joupi village of Chandel district, Manipur on 23 March 2024, wherein 57 Village Authorities from 49 villages of Khengjoi Sub Division in attendance to discuss the rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons and measures to ensure restoration of peace and normalcy in the area. The interaction was fruitful and topics discussed also included provision of medical & educational facilities, requirement of basic infrastructure development as well as career counseling to motivate the youth of the region to join the Security Forces. The village authorities of the entire Khengjoi Sub Division, present for the event, expressed their gratitude to acknowledge the initiative taken by Assam Rifles for addressing the many pressing issues during the present situation in the state.

JOINT OPERATION RESULTS IN BUSTING OF HIDEOUT AND RECOVERYOF ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN MANIPUR

Acting on specific intelligence oc presence of arms and ammunition in general area Oinam in Bishnupur district of Manipur, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a joint search operation on March 24, 2024 and recovered of one 7.65 mm Pistol, 10 grenades, one Kenwood Radio Set, one Medical kit in an underground hideout. The hideout was destroyed during the search operation.

FRIENDLY VOLLEYBALL MATCH ORGANIZED WITH VILLAGERS OF MOREH BY THE INDIAN ARMY

In a groundbreaking initiative to foster unity and peace a friendly volleyball match between the Army personnel and locals was organised on 23 March 2024 at Moreh, Tengnoupal District.

By bringing together locals from all walks of life onto the volleyball court, the event seeked to promote camaraderie, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging amongst the participants. Beyond the volleyball court, the event aimed at promoting interaction and dialogue between army personnel and civilians.

The event also underscored the vital role of sports in confidence and peacebuilding efforts, providing a platform for individuals and communities to come together, transcend divisions, and build bridges towards a more harmonious future. Through initiatives such as this volleyball match, stakeholders have reaffirmed their commitment to peace, stability, and reconciliation in Moreh.
