ASSAM RIFLES PAYS TRIBUTE TO FALLEN BRAVEHEARTS OF WORLD WAR – II AT SHANGSHAK WAR MEMORIAL

Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) conducted a Wreath Laying Ceremony for all ranks of the 4 MARATHA LI and the civilians of Shangshak village who laid down their lives and gave supreme sacrifice on 26th March 1944 during World War II while fighting the Japanese aggression.

The wreath laying ceremony commenced with the wreath laying followed by a motivational speech narrating the inspiring story of the bravehearts.

In addition to Assam Rifles personnel, also present on the occasion were the headman, and eminent appointments of the Shangshak village and extended families of the villagers who had fought alongside the troops against the Japanese aggressors in the battle of Shangshak. The mutual interaction was filled with an air of gratitude and respect for the soldiers and villagers alike who laid down their lives against the external aggression. The Commandant Assam Rifles paid his deep respect to the family members of the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice and expressed that the nation shall forever be indebted for their role in the war.
