Vigilant Troops of border outpost Charbadra of 146 Battalion under BSF, South Bengal Frontier along with the police personnel of Jalangi police station of district Murshidabad, West Bengal, and Team of the Election Commission, conducted a joint operation and seized 546 Phensedyl bottles. Apart from this, the jawans of border outposts Borberia and Ranghat seized 210 Phensedyl from the border areas of District Nadia when the smugglers were trying to cross this consignment from the Indian border into Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl is Rs 155343/-.
According to the information, on March 28, 2024, Troops of Border outpost Charbhdra received information that a consignment of Phensedyl was hidden in the forests of Charparaspur and Smugglers were trying to cross this consignment to Bangladesh. Acting on this information, BOP Charbadra jawans and police personnel of Jalangi police station with a team of election commission together investigated from 1145 hrs to 1230 hrs in Muslimpada of Charparaspur and seized 546 bottles of Phensedyl in 5 bags in the forest.
The seized Phensedyl bottles have been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
A.K. Arya, DIG, Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier, BSF expressed happiness over the success of the jawans. He said that this is only a reflection of the vigilance shown by the BSF jawans on duty. He said in strong words that BSF soldiers will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to take place on the border under any circumstances. He further said that our intelligence department is locating the people involved in this smuggling.
