On 15 April 2024 Lieutenant Colonel Vikrant Mehta lost his life in the line of duty.

The officer was posted at Rangia, Assam. He was commissioned into Armoured Corps on 08 December 2001. Lieutenant Colonel Vikram was known to be a thorough professional. He had instructional tenures at National Defence Academy and Army War College.
The officer was cremated at Basistha Cremation Ground, Guwahati on 16 April with full military honours. He is survived by his wife, Ms. Surangma and son, Adhiraj.
