Commercial Metro services on Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch of Green Line 2 and Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch of Orange Line have started from March 15, 2024.
During the period from March 15, 2024 to May 15, 2024 Metro Railway has carried around 24 Lakh passengers and earned Rs. 3.40 crores in Green Line 2. In Green Line 1, 21 lakh passengers have been carried between Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah and Metro Railway has earned Rs 3.11 crore in the said period. In Green Line 2 Howrah Metro station has been the busiest station during the last 2 months. This station has recorded 11.67 lakhs passenger count which has been the highest passenger count among all the stations in this corridor.
In Blue Line, 3.03 crore passengers have been carried between Dakshineshwar to Kavi Subhash and Metro Railway has earned Rs. 45.83 crores in the said period. In Orange Line more than 55 thousands passengers have travelled over the last two months and Metro has earned Rs 11.64 lakhs. In Purple Line, 27 thousand passengers have travelled over the last two months and Metro has earned Rs 3.98 lakhs.
Commuters have also found it convenient to switch Corridors at Esplanade and Kavi Subhash Metro stations with integrated tickets. Metro staff have been helping them to find their respective Metros.
Commuters from different areas of Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and suburbs have travelled in these Metro Corridors to save their time.
Adequate counters have been opened and Smart Cards, Tokens, Paper Based QR Tickets have also been made available in order to facilitate seamless and smooth journey for the commuters during the last two months.
Metro Authorities are determined to provide commuters a very cheap, fast and traffic woes-free journey which is going to be an ultimate traffic solution for Kolkata and suburbs.
