ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY TO COMMEMORATE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE OF BRAVEHEARTS AT HENGSHI ON 22 MAY 2024

Assam Rifles under the aegis Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised a wreath laying ceremony for Sub (GD) Baldev Kumar, Hav(ORL) Susarjit Barla, Rfn(GD) Mahesh Singh, Rfn(GD) Bhupender Kumar, Rfn(GD) Pawan Singh and Rfn(GD) Akhilesh Kumar Pandey of 29 Assam Rifles who gave the supreme sacrifice on this day, in the service of the nation.

On 22 May 2016, this team was part of the QRT which was moving to Battalion HQ from general area Shiv Mandir. The vehicles of the QRT came under heavy fire of terrorists. The QRT also retaliated and forced the terrorists to retreat. However, in the exchange of fire, the JCO, NCO and the four OR were grievously injured and succumbed to their injuries.

Assam Rifles honoured the bravehearts by paying homage, at the War Memorial, for the supreme sacrifice of the six heroes for the cause of the Nation, while disregarding their personal safety.

The ceremony commenced with wreath laying and a motivational speech delivered by the Commanding Officer to all ranks, narrating the story of the bravehearts’ sacrifice in the service of nation.

Two Officers, two Junior Commissioned Officers and 30 Other Ranks of Assam Rifles paid tribute by laying wreath & accorded Guard of honour for the fallen heroes.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES WOMEN’S INTER-VILLAGE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT AND INTER SCHOOL SPORTS MEET & CONDUCTED OPENING CEREMONY

The Assam Rifles organised a Womens’ Friendly Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament at Changpol, district Chandel from 21-22 May 2024.

The tournament was organised with the aim to motivate local youth of the area to rmake wholesome life choices and promote sports culture amongst women in the Hill Villages of Manipur State.

The mini tournament was organised between teams from four Villages – Zoldam, Khangtung, T Nampao & C Gomnom. After a fascinating contest between the 4 teams, the final was contested between teams from T Nampao Village and Khangtung Village, in the presence of 70-75 enthusiastic and supportive sports aficionados from the vicinity. The team from T Nampao Village won the tournament and were awarded with a cash prize.

At Sehlon, Chandel District Manipur, Assam Rifles organised the much awaited Inter School Sports Meet on 22 May 2024.

The opening ceremony witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 200 students engaging in a variety of sports disciplines including Football, Volleyball and Athletics. The participating schools, representing a diverse range of talents and skills engaged in various sporting disciplines, fostering healthy competition and camaraderie amongst students. The event also featured a captivating March Past by the students lead by the Pipe band of Assam Rifles, adding a sense of unity and discipline in the vibrant occasion.

The event commenced with hoisting of Indian National flag followed by March Past & Cultural dance by the students. Subsequently, the Chief Guest lit the flaming torch to mark the official start to the event and kicked off the event with wishes of harmony and goodwill in the place.

Assam Rifles aims to encourage a culture of comraderie, sportsmanship & altruism in the community thereby gaining their trust & confidence.

ASSAM RIFLES ALONG WITH SUNBIRD FOUNDATION DISTRIBUTED RELIEF MATERIALS AT 15 RELIEF CAMPS IN CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT OF MANIPUR

In continuation to its efforts to address the essential requirements of the underprivileged people residing in 15 relief camps at various locations in Churachandpur District, Assam Rifles and Sunbird Foundation distributed relief materials on May 22 to the inhabitants.

The said drive was aimed at addressing the basic requirements of the internally displaced people deprived of basic amenities at the relief camps. A total of 900 villagers of all age groups were benefitted from the said initiative by the Assam Rifles.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES FRIENDLY FOOTBALL MATCH IN TEGNOUPAL DISTRICT

Sports are essential for society not only for physical fitness but also as a harbinger of unity and joy into the society. With an aim of strengthening existing relationships and create a positive environment in conflict torn Moreh, a friendly Football match was played between the team of Moreh Ward No 2 and troops of Assam Rifles on  May 21, 2024.

Both teams displayed exceptional skills and team work, showcasing the universal language of sports as they communicated on the field with precision and finesse.

The event was a testament to the power of sports in bringing people together and bridge culture divide. The team of Moreh Ward No 2 won the match by 3-1.
