ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED AN AWARENESS LECTURE CUM DEMONSTRATION WITH YOGA ON DRUGS ABUSE

Under the ‘Meri Life Amplification Plan 2024,’ Assam Rifles initiated an action plan from 5th May 2024 to 5th June 2024 to enlighten the youth and community members of Moreh town about the dangers of drug addiction and the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle.

On 25 May 2024, Assam Rifles organized an awareness lecture and yoga demonstration on drug abuse under the theme of Healthy Lifestyle Adoption at the Addulam Drug Rehabilitation Centre in H Munnom Village. This comprehensive program aimed to combat substance abuse within the community through an enlightening lecture that highlighted the dangers of drug addiction. A total of 60 participants, including youths and village representatives, actively participated in the event, which concluded with a solemn pledge-taking ceremony, reinforcing the commitment to a drug-free society.

These awareness sessions, combined with yoga demonstrations, aimed to strengthen the bond between the community and security forces. All villagers and children of the community were provided refreshments as a gesture of appreciation at the event’s culmination. Village elders appreciated Assam Rifles’ efforts to lead the charge in creating healthier, drug-free societies during these challenging times of internal security.

Assam Rifles in a remarkable display of community engagement and support for youth development, proudly hosted the first edition of Inter School Sports Meet at Sehlon village from 22 May 2024 to 25 May 2024. The “Youth Engagement” event witnessed the participation by more than 200 students from four schools of the region and aimed at promoting camaraderie, physical fitness, and a spirit of healthy competition among the youth.

The Inter School Sports Meet covered a diverse range of sports competitions, including Football, Volleyball, and Athletics. The participating schools, representing a diverse range of talents and skills, engaged in various sporting disciplines, fostering healthy competition and camaraderie among students. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the event was marked by boundless enthusiasm and a common chorus of harmony among the participants and spectators.

The event was graced by senior civil. dignitaries.

Assam Rifles also instituted a rolling trophy for the Champion school which was bagged by Shining Star School, Wayang.

The success of the first edition of the event has set positive precedent for future events, and Assam Rifles look forward to continuing its efforts in nurturing young talent and fostering a spirit of harmony and team spirit among the youths.

Assam Rifles, believes in the power of sports to instill values of discipline, perseverance, and leadership among the youth. By organizing such events, Assam Rifles aims to provide a platform for young talents to flourish and inspire others in the community.

ASSAM RIFLES HONOURS BRAVEHEARTS AT MOREH, TENGNOUPAL DISTRICT, MANIPUR ON 26 MAY 2024

At Moreh in Tengnoupal District, Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at of Manipur to honour the BRAVEHEART who had laid down their lives in service of the Nation on 26 May 1955.

On 26 May 1955, 5th Battalion of Assam Rifles was deployed to tackle Naga Hostiles from Tawang District, Arunachal Pradesh. During operation, Havildar (Late) Rithe Tamang of 5 Assam Rifles made supreme sacrifice of life in the line of duty fighting against Naga hostiles. The sacrifice of Havildar (Late) Rithe Tamang is etched in the history of Assam Rifles in golden letters and provides motivation of service before self to the soldiers of Assam Rifles.

The solemn ceremony included wreath laying and observing a minute of silence to remember their brave deed.
