As a part of celebrating State Child Protection Day on 9th June, 2024, a joy ride was organised for children in a Metro under the river Hooghly today, i.e. on June 8, 2024. In this joy ride, 74 enthusiastic children travelled from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan and back on Green Line-2 and they enjoyed every moment of it.
This special initiative was organised by West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights in association with Metro Railway, Kolkata. These children came from different Child Care Institutes run by government and NGOs from different parts of West Bengal. These children who generally live an institutional life with no attachment with the outside world will long cherish this memory as they were taken under the river. Their joy was unbound as this ride was like a dream come true for them.
West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights authorities have thanked Metro Railway for coming forward to organise such a memorable event which has been a novelty for this children.
It is to be noted that Metro Railway always extends its help to such social cause to bring happiness to people of different sections of the society.
(Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer Metro Railway stated this in a release.)
