The District Administration, in collaboration with the District AYUSH Society of West Kameng District, celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for Self and Society” at the School Auditorium of Bomdila.
During the event, Deputy Commissioner Akriti Sagar (IAS) emphasized the significance of celebrating Yoga Day.
Yoga instructor Nyomba guided the participants through various forms of yoga, explaining their benefits.
The training session was attended by over 100 participants Imbibing a lifestyle of wholesome growth and holistic physical, mental and spiritual wellness and generating social awareness on the subject of Yoga, the Indian Army alongwith locals of Rupa, Tenga and Gacchham, school students from all local schools, representatives of civil administration, local NGO’s and local civic action groups,
Celebrated the “10th International Day of Yoga” on 21 Jun 2024 at Rupa Town Club with this year’s theme being, ‘Yoga for Self & Society’.
The function commenced with basic Yoga asanas for children and beginners and ended with as Astavakrasana and Bhairavasana, providing a glimpse into the great depth of this discipline. The celebratory event was embraced with full zeal and enthusiasm by all present, civil and military alike, with volunteers turning up in huge numbers to participate with evident energy and fervour, keen to learn about and gain insight, into this ancient field of well-being. Shoulder to shoulder with the spirited and formidable troops of Indian Army, their civil counterpants were as resilient, performing all exercises with apparent liveliness and vigour.
Notable dignitaries that attended the event were Mr Lobsang Tsetan, MLA Kalakthang, Mr Tseten Chombay Kee, ASP (Rupa), Shri Pawan Kumar, Environment Activist Mr. Tsering Thongdok, Air Commodore RD Musabi (Retd), Director, Zila Sainik Board, Shri Tsering Thongdok, Senior Public Leader, Shri Wangchen Norbu, DIG (Retd), SSB, Shri DK Thongdok, Former Minister and Shri Karma Dorjee Thongdok, Zila Parishad Rupa. Most noticeable was the sparkle and exuberance of the school children present, being exceedingly forthcoming and energetic, taking part in all the activities of the occasion with vibrant excitement.
The celebration of the “10th International Day of Yoga”, together by the Indian Army and the people it protects, marked another important step in the chronicle of physical, mental and spirtual health and synergetic betterment of the society as a whole, with different entities joining hands for a better and healthier Nation.
