Assam Rifles conducted Women’s Equality Day with ladies of Mantripukhri Garrison, Sanjeevani of Imphal East District and Chandrakhong, Thoubal District of Manipur on August 26,
2024.
Approximately 100 local women at Mantripukhri Garrison, Sanjeevani, Imphal East District and Chandrakhong, Thoubal District of Manipur attended the event that included lectures on women empowerment and screening of inspirational documentary. The event culminated with interaction between the women and Assam Rifles.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED MASS TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AT SHAKPAO VILLAGE, UKHRUL DISTRICT, MANIPUR
On 25 August 2024, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with students and teachers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ramva, planted 1,600 saplings during a Mass Tree Plantation Drive at Shakpao village in Ukhrul district, Manipur.
This event was part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing environmental initiatives, aimed at addressing the challenges of deforestation and environmental degradation caused by illegal timber trade in Manipur. With its rich natural resources and significant forest cover, the state faces increasing threats to its environment. The drive was organized to raise awareness among students about the crucial importance of forest protection and nature conservation.
A total of 5 teachers and 43 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ramva, actively participated in the plantation drive. The event began with a warm welcome by the Company Commander of the Shakpao Company Operating Base, who highlighted the need to safeguard natural resources, particularly forests. Following the welcome, participants, along with Assam Rifles personnel, cleaned the areas in and around the village and together, planted 1,600 saplings in public spaces throughout the village.
The students and teachers expressed their keenness to participate in more such events and also pledged to protect the natural resources in their surroundings, especially the forests, and assured their full support to Assam Rifles in future environmental efforts.
