Atishi to be the new Chief Minister of Delhi: AAP decide

Senior AAP leader Atishi has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, succeeding Arvind Kejriwal. This decision was made during a legislative party meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), where Kejriwal proposed her name. Atishi, who currently serves as Delhi’s Minister for Education and Water, she is the third woman to hold the Chief Minister position in Delhi’s history after Sheila Dikshit and Sushma Swaraj.

Earlier on September Arvind Kejriwal had announced his plan to resign as Chief Minister within 48 hours after gets bail from Supreme Court.

Kejriwal’s resignation comes shortly after his release on bail related to a corruption case involving the Delhi liquor policy. He announced his intention to step down two days prior, stating he would not resume office until the public affirmed his honesty through a “certificate of honesty”. Atishi’s leadership is expected to be formalized in an oath-taking ceremony scheduled before the upcoming assembly session on September 26-27.

Born on June 8, 1981 she completed her undergraduate degree in History from St. Stephen’s College, where she excelled academically. Subsequently, she studied at Oxford University on a Chevening scholarship, earning her first Master’s degree in 2003 and later a second Master’s in Educational Research as a Rhodes Scholar

The AAP had considered other candidates for the role, including Kailash Gahlot and Saurabh Bharadwaj, but ultimately reached a consensus in favor of Atishi due to her extensive experience managing multiple portfolios within the government.
