IG BSF South Bengal Frontier flagged off BSF All-Women Ganga River Rafting Expedition from Tagore Vila Mandir Ghat for onward journey

In a historic initiative dedicated to women empowerment and Clean Ganga Mission, South Bengal Frontier IG Shri Maninder P.S. Pawar, IPS on 18 December, 2024 flagged off the All-Women Ganga River Rafting Team of 20 courageous women personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) at Tagore Vila Mandir Ghat for the remaining journey to Ganga Sagar. The journey will conclude at Diamond Harbour on 24 December.

The extraordinary journey from Gangotri to Gangasagar jointly sponsored by BSF and National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) organised awareness and cultural programme to promote women empowerment, environmental protection, women health and adventure sports for women during the halt of the Expedition at Tagore Vila Mandir Ghat in District North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The event was attended by Chief Guest Shri Maninder P.S. Pawar, IPS, IG BSF South Bengal Frontier along with officials of local administration and prominent dignitaries, school students, NCC cadets and Bharat Scouts & Guides.

On the occasion, Pawar while appreciating the bravery of BSF women personnel said: “This expedition is a testimony to the unparalleled courage and dedication of BSF Mahila praharis. This initiative not only inspires women across the country but also strengthens our commitment towards Clean Ganga Mission and environmental protection.”

The event concluded with IG BSF South Bengal Frontier officially flagging off the team and wishing them all the best for the remainder of their inspiring journey.
