In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles,recovered Six packets of Methamphetamine tablets weighing 7.1kgs and three packets of Crystal Methamphetamine weighing 3.1kgs having an approximate value of Rs 71.15 Cr from General Area Vangkai, Zokhawthar, Champhai district and apprehended one individual, name – Vanlalruaia (59 yrs), S/o – (L) Darneihkuala, R/o – Chhinga Veng (Aizawl) on 18 Feb 2025. The entire consignment and apprehended individual were taken into custody by Police Department, Zokhawthar for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Ongoing smuggling of contraband items is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against illegal smuggling and have also doubled its efforts to nab the kingpins of the smuggling of contraband items in Mizoram.
IN A JOINT OPERATION ASSAM RIFLES CLEARS TWO ACRES OF ILLEGAL POPPY PLANTATION IN KAIMAI
In a series of successful anti-narcotics operations, Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur Police, CRPF, IRB and Forest Department cleared two acres of illegal Poppy plantation in Kaimai, Tamenglong district of Manipur on 19 February 25.
The destroyed plantation is worth approximately Rs 15 Lakhs. By conducting regular patrols, Assam Rifles aims to prevent cultivation of poppy and disrupt supply chain of narcotics in the region.
This operation is a testament of Assam Rifles’ commitment to eradicating drug menace and maintaining law and order in Manipur.
