In a continued effort to curb illegal infiltration and trans-border crimes along the Indo-Bangladesh border, alert troops of 172 Bn BSF Meghalaya Frontier, successfully apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals on 07th April 2025.
Acting on specific intelligence, alert BSF troops noticing suspicious movement near the border, the troops swiftly responded and intercepted the individuals attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory.
Preliminary questioning revealed that the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals are residents of the Sylhet district Bangladesh. The individuals have been handed over to the Police Post Umkiang, East Jaintia Hills for further legal proceedings. The BSF remains committed to maintaining the sanctity and security of the international border and continues to enhance its surveillance and operational effectiveness in the region. The BSF Meghalaya Frontier reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of illegal cross-border activity.
