The vigilant jawans of Border Security Force South Bengal Frontier, successfully foiled multiple smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh international border in Nadia district, West Bengal. During the operations, they seized 17.660 kilograms of silver balls valued at approximately ₹17.13 lakh, 266 bottles of Phensedyl and 12 kilograms of Ganja.
On 15 May, acting on credible intelligence input, the vigilant jawans of Border Outpost Haldarpara, under 32 Battalion of BSF deployed along the Indo-Bangladesh international border in Nadia district, West Bengal, received information regarding a likely attempt to smuggle contraband through their area. Acting on the received intelligence, the jawans of border outpost swiftly devised a plan to apprehend the smugglers red-handed.They strategically laid an ambush ahead the fencing, positioning themselves to intercept any illegal movement across the border. At around 4 pm, the jawans noticed suspicious activity of some smugglers who were trying to throw some packets across the border passing through the banana plantation and bamboo bushes.The jawans took immediate action and tried to surround the smugglers and warned them to stop.Realizing they had been intercepted by BSF jawans, smugglers panicked and in a desperate attempt to flee, managed to escape under the cover of tall bushes and dense vegetation.Upon receiving information about the incident, a comprehensive search operation was launched across the area. Although no trace of the smugglers was found, the operation led to the recovery of 17.660 kg of silver balls, valued at approximately ₹17,13,000, packed in 15 separate packets and 6 kg of ganja from the location. In another incident on the same day, the jawans of border outpost Ambagan of the 32 Battalion also took action against the smugglers and seized 6 kg of Ganja and 216 bottles of Phensedyl.
All the seized items have been handed over to the concerned department.
While giving information about this incident, the Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier said that in the campaign against drug abuse and to stop smuggling attempts on the Indo-Bangladesh border, BSF jawans are foiling the plans of smugglers every day.
