The Troops deployed at various border outposts under the BSF South Bengal Frontier, along the India-Bangladesh International Border in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, successfully thwarted three drug smuggling attempts through vigilant monitoring and swift action. During these operations 34 kg Ganja, 308 bottles of Phensedyl along with 5914 Yaba tablets worth Rs 59.14 lakh were seized.
Last night at around 2130 hrs, troops of Border Outpost Ghojadanga of 102 Battalion received specific information about a significant quantity of drugs hidden in a nearby parking area. Acting promptly on the input, the jawans conducted a meticulous search operation in the specified location. During the search, they recovered a suspicious bag. Upon examination at the spot, the bag was found to contain 59 small poly packets and one open packet, which collectively held 5,914 Yaba tablets and 110 bottles of Wincerex syrup. The said narcotics were seized and brought to Border Outpost Ghojadanga. The total estimated cost of the seized 5914 Yaba tablets has been estimated to be ₹59,14,000/- (fifty nine lakh and fourteen thousand rupees).
During another operation on the same day, troops from Border Outpost Behera of the 67 Battalion and Border Outpost Hakimpur of the 143 Battalion, deployed in North 24 Parganas district, conducted separate actions and successfully seized a total of 34.58 kilograms of Ganja, 308 bottles of Phensedyl, and apprehended a smuggler along with a bike.
All the confiscated drugs and the smugglers have been handed over to the concerned department.
The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier, while giving information about this incident, said that this is a good success in the campaign against drug abuse and in stopping smuggling attempts on the Indo-Bangladesh border. The smugglers are being discouraged continuously due to the alertness and quick action of BSF jawans, which is a big achievement for BSF.
