In a significant step towards advancing the vision of Viksit Tripura, Viksit Bharat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha met Union Cabinet Minister for Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi.
During the meeting, several key projects were discussed to strengthen Tripura’s connectivity, transport, and digital infrastructure. The Chief Minister emphasized that these initiatives will accelerate the state’s comprehensive development and improve quality of life for its citizens.
Among the major proposals discussed were:
– Introduction of a Vande Bharat Express between Agartala and Guwahati to enhance high-speed rail connectivity in the Northeast.
– Doubling of railway tracks and electrification to facilitate faster and more efficient train operations.
– Deployment of new and upgraded coaches on long-distance routes and improved maintenance of railway stations.
– Construction of a new TFTI building and the development of a Film City to boost Tripura’s film, media, and creative sectors.
– Expansion of call centers supporting employment and service delivery.
– Strengthening of the Cyber Security Hub to enhance digital safety and technological resilience.
Speaking about the meeting, Chief Minister Saha highlighted that these projects reflect the joint commitment of the Central and State governments to build modern infrastructure and digital capabilities in Tripura. He reaffirmed that under Prime Minister Modi’s vision, Tripura is moving steadily toward becoming a developed and self-reliant state.
The proposed initiatives mark another milestone in Tripura’s growth trajectory, reinforcing its role as an emerging hub of connectivity, technology, and innovation in the Northeastern region.
