SECURITY FORCES RECOVER IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES (IEDs), EXPLOSIVES AND HUGE CACHE OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION

In a classic display of intelligence sharing and synergy amongst the security forces deployed in Manipur, a joint operation of Assam Rifles, BSF and Manipur Police led to the recovery and disposal of a significant cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and related materials along Senam – Bongyang road.

A team of Assam Rifles personnel, accompanied by BSF & police, conducted a thorough search of the area resulting in the recovery of 45 IEDs, 700 meters of Cordex, and 300 meters of Flexible Wire.

Post-recovery, the area was sanitized, and the IEDs were safely destroyed in situ by the Bomb Disposal (BD) team.

In a similar event in Sangaikot, Churachandpur on 12 Dec 2023, joint column of Assam Rifles, ITBP, CRPF and Manipur police launched an operation based on specific input and recovered arms and explosives.

A total of 15 weapons to include one SLR, one 9mm Pistol, one Revolver, eight improvised mortars, one Tear Gas Gun, three Single Barrel Rifles and country made bombs along with explosives were recovered during the operation.

The recovered items have been handed over to Sangaikot Police station.
