Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) org a wreath laying ceremony on 14th December for Sub/GD (Late) HB Thapa, KC, Rfn/GD (Late) Rama Shankar, Rfn/GD (Late) Om Bahadur Thapa, SM of 4 Assam Rifles who attained martyrdom during an ambush on the Patrolling party at Imphal Kamjong Road, Manipur on 14 Dec 1994. In retaliation to insurgent ambush 02xNSCN (IM) cadres were gunned down and huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. All the above comrades sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to their injuries, thereby laying down their lives as supreme sacrifice for the nation. For this act of gallantry, Sub/GD (Late) HB Thapa was awarded with Kirti Chakra, Rfn/GD (Late) Rama Shankar was awarded with, Shaurya Chakra & Rfn/GD (Late) Om Bahadur Thapa was awarded with Sena Medal, all posthumous.
