Sikkim is all set to host the Chodzo Festival at Rabongla Chodzo Lake in Namchi

Sikkim is all set to host the Chodzo Festival at Rabongla Chodzo Lake in Namchi District, aiming to boost tourism in the State.

The festival, scheduled to take place from 11th April to 16th April, will feature a host of cultural events, with the inaugural Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Open Volleyball Tournament emerging as the main attraction.

Speaking to media, Area MLA Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia emphasized the festival’s primary objective: promoting Sikkim’s tourism and positioning Rabongla as a key tourist destination.

He highlighted that the event will also include a B2B (Business-to-Business) program, where entrepreneurs and business leaders from Bhutan and Nepal will participate to exchange ideas and explore new business opportunities.

Bishnu Sharma, the event’s General Secretary, underscored Rabongla’s tourism potential, noting the region’s steady flow of tourists. However, he acknowledged a key challenge: while many visitors come, few choose to stay.

To address this, the festival aims to introduce strategies that will encourage tourists to prolong their visit, thereby boosting local businesses and the economy.
