BIG ACHIEVEMENT OF BSF, LEAVING THE PATH OF SMUGGLING, A WANTED CATTLE SMUGGLER JOINED THE MAINSTREAM OF EARNING A LIVING, SURRENDERED TO BSF

BSF’s hard work on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Malda district of West Bengal has started to pay off. Malda district, which is considered a stronghold of smuggling, is now becoming smuggling free. Where a few years ago, smugglers used to forcibly carrying out animal smuggling, Phensedyl smuggling and smuggling of other banned items. At the same time, the continuous hard work of BSF has started to pay off. The smugglers are now feeling nothing but desperation. Slowly smugglers are joining the main stream of livelihood. A living example of this was presented on March 15, 2022, when Ashu Das, a wanted cattle smuggler, surrendered to the BSF in the Border Out Post Itaghati, 159 Battalion posted in the border area of ​​Malda district.

Due to strictness on Border, unemployment became the reason for surrender


Wanted cattle smuggler Ashu Das, (S/o- Gopal Das, Village- Kathal Banpur, Post Office- Manikora, PS- Habibpur, District- Malda) and was involved in cattle smuggling for a long time. The smuggler was always trying to smuggle cattle in the Battalion’s area but was failing due to the alertness of the deployed BSF jawans. After being hit by unemployment and financial constraints due to the cessation of smuggling, smuggler surrendered to the BSF.

Requested for forgiveness, assured not to smuggle in future


During the surrender, the wanted smuggler Ashu Das has also given a written confession, in which he has confessed that he was involved in cattle smuggling and used to give cattle to Bangladeshi smugglers. He has also confessed that from now he will not be involved in any kind of smuggling, and will earn his living as a good citizen. A copy of this written confession has also been submitted to the Police Station and Block.
Randhir Kumar, Company Commander, Border Out Post Itaghati, Tridip Roy, Chairman Habibpur Block, Milan Mandal, Zilla Parishad, members were present during the surrender.

Advice of the Commanding Officer, leave the smuggling and surrender the rest of the smugglers


Shri Harsh Nandan Joshi, Commanding Officer of 159 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking stringent steps to stop smuggling, due to which the plans of the smugglers are constantly being dashed, As a result, many smugglers of the area have joined the mainstream of earning a living. On one hand the commanding officer expressed happiness over the surrender of cattle smugglers like Ashu Das and on the other hand inspired other smugglers of the area to surrender. He added that all possible help would be provided to the people joining the mainstream.
