Indigo Airlines has launched flights between Shillong and Silchar since last Monday as per the flight plan under the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Airport Authority of India sources said. The flight will run three days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma thanked Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for launching the service.
The Union Civil Aviation Ministry launched ‘UDAN’ on June 15, 2016, which is an initiative with a special focus on Northeastern, hilly states, and islands. The scheme sought to connect unserved and underserved airports as well as make flying more affordable.
