Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday handed over financial assistance to some children who have lost their parents to COVID-19.
Rs, 7,81,200 would be parked in the bank as fixed deposits in name of each beneficiary.
The chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the assistance to 11 children before the start of a press conference.
The state government had announced this scheme ten days ago on the completion of seven years of the NDA government which led by PM Narendra Modi.
CM Sarma also informed State Govt would give Rs 2.5 lakh one-time financial assistance from CM Relief Fund to women who lost their husbands due to COVID. Besides, such widows will also be entitled to benefits of the Orunodoi scheme along with a monthly widow pension.
