Residents of Chandan Nagar area in Survey, Beltola; the dead bodies of Nani Gopal Barua (86) and his wife Meena Barua (81) were found today morning, with blood-stains all over.
This elderly couple has been unfortunately murdered last night. Guwahati Police has taken note of the incident and started a preliminary investigation.
Commissioner of Guwahati Police and Addl. DGP, Hardi Singh has today visited the location.
It is suspected that land-related issues between family members led to this brutal murder. The criminals have also “taken away” land documents of the couple from the house, after trespassing.
The incident that happened last night is saddening and raises questions on the public security arrangements in the busy city of Guwahati.
