BSF HANDED OVER THE ‘CASUALTY CERTIFICATE’ GIVEN BY THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA TO SHAHEED RAI PADA DAS FOR HIS INCOMPARABLE CONTRIBUTION IN THE 1971 INDO-PAKISTAN WAR

The whole world is aware of the struggle that the people of present-day Bangladesh, which was established as East Pakistan before 1971, had to fight for their fundamental rights. The brutality that was being done by the Pakistan Army to get the general public of Bangladesh to obey their orders is well known. When the resentment towards the Pakistan Army was taking the form of revolution among the people. This spark was given shelter by Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indra Gandhi and it resulted in the 1971 war.

In the war of 1971, a new nation ‘Bangladesh’ was born by sacrificing many sons of Mother India. In this sequence, Head Constable Rai Pada Das had joined the 1st Armed Police battalion, West Bengal Barrackpore, on 11 April 1960. Border Security Force was established on 01 December 1965. After the establishment, on 01 April 1966, the 1st battalion Armed Police, West Bengal was incorporated in the Border Security Force as the 70 Battalion in Raiganj West Bengal.

On November 05, 1971, when the troops of the 70 battalion were fighting the Pakistani Army in the area of ​​Trishula Pokhar near the International Border. Despite limited resources and minimal manpower, the enemy was still teething. In this war, the martyer Head Constable Rai Pada Das showed indomitable courage and valor and was eventually martyred due to bullet injuries.

The Government of India also honored the sacrifice of martyr Head Constable Rai Pada Das and was posthumously decorated with ‘Sena Medal’.

In recent times, BSF is celebrating Golden Victory Year to commemorate the victory over Pakistan. The ‘Casualty Certificate’ given by the Government of India on 21st December, 2021 was presented by the 70 Battalion, BSF, to Veer Nari Smt. Suvenkari Das, wife of Martyer Rai Pada Das ji at her home residence. BSF keeps those who make sacrifices for the country paramount.
