On 07 January, 2022, Border Security Force troops under South Bengal Frontier seized 9.732 kg of silver jewelery from near the International Boundary. The smuggler was trying to smuggle the seized silver jewelery from India to Bangladesh from the area of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Bn BSF North 24 Parganas District.
On January 07, 2022, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Bn BSF, Sector Kolkata layed an ambush on the suspicious road near the International Boundary. At around 0515 hrs, a WagonR car (WB 02 AE 6108) was coming from village Tarali and going towards Hakimpur. When the ambush party tried to stop it, the car driver tried to run away. The Ambush Party chased the car, but the driver managed to escape by jumping out of the car taking advantage of the dense fog and built up area. When the Ambush Party conducted a thorough search of the car, 9.732 kg of silver jewelery was recovered from inside a cavity near the CNG tank. The estimated price of which is Rs 4,85,821/-.
The seized silver jewelery has been handed over to the Customs Office Tetulia.
The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier has expressed happiness over the achievements of the 112 Bn BSF troops. He stated that the intelligence department is working for who is behind the seized silver jewelery. He also added that this type of smuggling has been stopped only because of the alertness displayed by their jawans on duty.
