BSF apprehended a child with 11 gold biscuits who had gone for fishing beyond the fence while his father managed to escape. The weight of the seized gold biscuits is 1265.99 grams with an estimated cost of Rs 65,48,966.
On February 18, 2022, at about 0800 hrs, a child with 11 gold biscuits was apprehended by the troops of Border Out Post Madhupur, Adhoc VII Battalion BSF which is deployed in the bordering area of North 24 Parganas district. The boy had gone beyond fence with his father for farming and fishing. The apprehended child is the son of Asiful Mandal resident of village Hariharpur, a bordering village in North 24 Parganas district, whose name is Ashif Mandal (age 11 years).
The village head along with the relatives of the apprehended boy were informed about the whole incident.
BSF stated in a statement that the father of the apprehended child had gone for farming ahead of fence who is still absconding and there is every possibility that the father of the child might be involved in this case and has fled away to Bangladesh. BSF is also trying to trace the father of the child. Also, in relation to this gold reliable sources have found out that this gold biscuits had been given to this child by Tahir Mandal, a resident of Bateberik, a bordering village of Bangladesh. It is learned that after crossing the border, his neighbor Majeed Mandal, father- Late Anshuddin Mandal would have taken these golden biscuits from this child. The village head and family members of the apprehended child have also been informed about this whole incident.
Apprehended boy was handed over to the Custom Department, Bagdah along with the seized Gold biscuits.
The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier stated that BSF is taking strict steps to prevent smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border. Due to which the people involved in such crimes are facing a lot of difficulties. Further the officer added in strong words that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
